Turquoise was among the first gems to be mined. Apart from its natural colors of green to blue, Turquoise is treated to enhance both its colour and durability . Perhaps the most extreme of treatments is "reconstitution", wherein fragments of fine turquoise material, too small to be used individually, are powdered and then bonded to form a solid mass. Very often the material sold as "reconstituted" turquoise. Arizona and Nevada are the main states mining turquoise whereas Tibetian Turquoise is widely used in India.
